What can we do for you?
Having grown up in Durham I fondly remember shopping at Woolworth's and Belk's, and buying the latest fashions at the Young Men's Shop where I worked as a teenager. I enjoyed eating the best hot dogs at Amos N Andy's, breakfast all day at the Plaza, The Palm Restaurant and the CCB snack shoppe (great flattened sandwiches) and Sunday after church lunch at the Little Acorn.
My great Uncles Cary and Deck Holland opened Holland Brothers Furniture in 1918 on Main Street and operated their store for 60 years there. They would not recognize downtown now!
After 30 years as a financial advisor, I retired from First Citizens Bank in Raleigh in 2008. I worked towards the NC Appraisers License and a NC Real Estate Brokers License. I now dedicate my time to working with home buyers and sellers, helping those clients reach their goals. I know the Triangle markets very well; I remember a very vibrant downtown Durham and am excited to see its renewal. I bring a unique perspective to my clients and am diligent in providing the best service. I have been married to my wife Diane for 28 years and we have two sons, Matt and Carr. Give me call and see what a big difference homegrown makes.
I have a passion for helping people reach their goals. As owner of Sterling HR Solutions and with leadership positions at UNC and Tiffany & Co., I was able to help people succeed in their professional lives. Now, with New Durham Realty, I get to help people find their dream home. I know the Durham market very well and live in Durham with my wife of 12 years and our two children. I enjoy golf, food discovery, travelling and craft beers. Call or email me today.
As I child in the Midwest, I was creative. Drawing and imagining is what I did - and went to NYC to do - and still do in NC! But with two realtor parents, real estate was a slow simmer as well. Today, as a residential interior designer and realtor in Durham, the merge of services feels just right. Our shelter, now more than ever, is needed for recovery and rest from the lives we live (and the world in which we're living). And even as we become more mobile, being nurtured in our home environment is foundational. For me, “To nest is to live!” My nest is in a historical downtown Durham tobacco loft, with my two teenagers and cat. I'm proudly affiliated with New Durham Realty, because I love this area for where it's been and where it's headed. And to read about my designing life, Heather Garrett Interior Design. Here's to making the world more beautiful!
